The Parade
The Parade kicks off the annual Middletown Peach Festival, starting on South Broad Street and turning right onto Main Street. It includes an exciting variety of bands, classic cars, fire equipment, costumed participants, and performing groups—with lots of noise and color. Regular participants have included our own Cavalier, Ducks, and Jaguar Marching Bands.

Middletown Historical Society Booth
Peach Festival T-shirts with the embroidered logo will be available for purchase, along with festival information, directions, and membership opportunities. Peaches will be sold by the piece, bag, or case.
Volunteers from the Appoquinimink Jaguar Marching Band will staff the booth. They are this year’s recipient of the $1,000 Peach Festival Partnership Award presented by the Middletown Historical Society. Jaguar band members will also sell peaches throughout the festival area.

Historical Society Museum & Grounds
The museum at the Academy Building is a great place to cool off, sit down, use the restrooms, purchase homemade peach pies for $12 each and other baked goods made by the MOT Senior Center, and learn about local history. Both floors are handicapped accessible, with a ramp to the back door and a chairlift. Upstairs, visitors can receive coupons for free ice cream from new festival partner Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers of Middletown.

1776 Celebrators
Experience life during the Revolution at a recreation of the Witherspoon Tavern, meet interpreters, and enjoy hands-on family activities.
The Little Farm
Make friends with Noah’s Ark of barnyard animals. For a small fee, children may feed animals, have their faces painted, or take a pony ride.
Kids Zone
Behind the museum, enjoy free inflatable attractions from All Blown Up Inflatables, including the popular Moon Bounce.
Arrange-a-Bouquet
Daniels & Hutchison, next to the museum, will offer a free flower-arranging table in their driveway. Come early—fresh flowers may not last.

Spirits of ’76
This major new exhibition explores life and decorative arts during the Revolution in Europe, the wider world, the 13 colonies, Delaware, and Middletown. New research reveals the choices, challenges, and sacrifices experienced by about 15 ordinary residents of lower New Castle County.
Spotlight Exhibitions
Three rotating exhibitions explore the road to the American Revolution and Delaware’s role, sewing as self-expression, and how Middletown residents celebrated America’s milestone anniversaries.
Noon–4:00 PMA silhouette cutter will create free likenesses of visitors in the center room.
UPSTAIRS
Underground Railroad
Learn about the Underground Railroad in Middletown, the roles played by Quakers Hunn and Alston, and the story of the escaped Hawkins family.
A Walk Down the Aisle
Designed by University of Delaware Museum Studies students, this exhibit explores how local weddings and marriages evolved from 1900 to today.
Historic Schoolroom
Visit a hands-on, seats-in old schoolroom—a favorite of children and families—and learn the story of Samuel Jones, a Mt. Pleasant peach-era African American landowner.

The Car Show features Vintage Antique, Antique, and Classic categories. Trophies include class winners, Best in Show, and People’s Choice—all determined by attendee votes. Please vote!
Enjoy lunches, homemade 9-inch double-crust and crumb peach pies for $12 each, cobblers and crisps, jams, jellies, baked goods, gifts, and gently used jewelry. $12 peach pies and selected baked goods will also be for sale at the Middletown Historical Society Museum.

Church on Main
Under the town clock, Church on Main welcomes visitors to its 1850/1882 building. Stop in to rest, use the bathrooms, relax in comfortable air conditioning, and purchase ice cream. Restrooms will be open to the public.
27 W. Green Street
Volunteer Hose Company
One block south of Main Street, Middletown firefighters will host an open house featuring fire safety, multiple fire trucks, original hose carts, and an 1887 horse-drawn ladder truck.
Children can pick up fire-prevention information, and smoke detectors will be available for homes that need them. Members will answer questions and show visitors the company’s fire and rescue equipment. A staffed First Aid Station and public restrooms will be available.
